Exploring the Intersection of Indigenous Wisdom and Modern Science
In this presentation, we outline the core principles that form the basis of ´Birthing an Ancient Future,´ an initiative led by visionary founder and director, Dr. Regina U.Hess. This open-access event synopsis video serves as a conscientious contribution to the global narrative on education and social transformation. The recording serves to condense the profound essence of our pioneering event, the Birthing an Ancient Future 2023 - Global Hybrid Symposium and Legal Psilocybin-Assisted Expert Ceremony, convened from June 2nd-4th, 2023, in the Netherlands. Notably, this event also marked the 5th Symposium of the EUROTAS Global Transpersonal Network.
Central to our conceptual framework is the revered figure of Grandmother Spider - an omnipresent symbol, revered across cultures as the ancestor of life and the divine architect of creation. Serving as the guiding ethos throughout our transformative journey, Grandmother Spider epitomised the spiritual essence of our symposium.
During the one-day Global Hybrid Symposium, attendees were immersed in thought-provoking dialogues, interweaving indigenous wisdom with contemporary insights from the realm of psychedelic science. Against the picturesque backdrop of Delft's Art Centre, participants were afforded the opportunity to explore the harmonious co-existence of ancient traditions and innovative research, with a particular emphasis on the multifaceted phenomenon of Mexican mushroom cults. The event was notably marked by the presence of a distinguished delegation of Mexican curanderos and speakers, whose contributions infused the proceedings with a rich tapestry of cultural rituals, expressive dance, artwork, and soulful musical performances.
Subsequently, a select group embarked on a reflective journey during the Legal Psilocybin-Assisted Expert Group Retreat. Situated within the tranquil confines of a Sacred Nature Reserve Retreat Centre, participants engaged in a series of intimate ceremonial practices - including the honoured Mexican Cacao Ceremony and the controlled consumption of legal Psilocybin-containing Truffles. Drawing inspiration from time-honoured Mazatec traditions and contemporary integration methodologies, attendees pursued a journey of inner healing, profound transformation, and collective planetary stewardship.
Throughout the duration of our shared journey, an ethos of prayerful reverence permeated the proceedings, evoking ancient indigenous customs of spiritual communion with the Great Spirit through the sacred medium of Tobacco. A profound recognition of the transformative power of ancestral healing and the intergenerational connection was discovered, characterised by the interconnected mycelial consciousness of mushrooms.
